Born October 23, 1905, W.B. Nowlin of Fort Worth, Texas, has become the “dean” of gospel music promoters. During the past 28 years every major gospel quartet has worked for him. His “Battle of Songs” concerts have been held in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Arizona, and he was the first to promote gospel music in Hawaii. He was closely associated with the late V.O. Stamps in getting gospel quartets on radio in the 1930′s. Mr. Nowlin is a charter member of the Gospel Music Association and has served on the Board of Directors. Died December 11, 1994, Fort Worth, Texas.
