E.M. Bartlett, Sr.
Eugene Monroe Bartlett was born near Waynesville, Missouri, moved with his parents to Sebastian County, Arkansas. Married to Joan Tatum, 1917. Parents of two sons, Gene Bartlett, Jr., a nationally known writer of contemporary church music and Charles Bartlett Minister of Music in a large Texas church. E.M. Bartlett, Sr. founded the Hartford Music Company and gave many writers, singers and musicians their first opportunity in gospel music, including Albert E. Brumley. He authored several hundred songs, including “Victory in Jesus,” and “Everybody Will Be Happy Over There.”
