If Charles Weigle never did anything in his life aside from writing “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus”, his contribution would still be immortal. His early manhood was saddened and blackened by a domestic difficulty which estranged his first wife. Instead of discouraging Weigle, the episode drove him deeper into the bosom of God. He preached and sang the Gospel, feeling supremely confident that neither angels nor devils could loose him from God. In his old age, he returned to Sebring, Florida. Seated on his veranda one fine morning, Weigle sighed deeply and almost with a plaintive groan said to himself, “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus.” The thought seemed to move upon him and overwhelm him, and he said he arose, went into the next room and seated himself at the piano and this marvelous song was written quickly. He didn’t tinker or tamper with it. The song was born with a sigh out of the great heart and soul of Charles Weigle.
